Callum Cooke

Club Manager

Who are you?

I'm Callum, and I'm the Club Manager at Chelsea Golf Club. Outside of work I enjoy playing rugby, and come September time I am hoping to get back into playing regularly. I also spend a lot of my time looking after my dog Dude, who is a black lab cross, who my partner and I rescued from Romania around 18 months ago.

How did you first get into golf?

My Grandad used to be obsessed with golf, and he would play at any opportunity possible, so from a very young age I was lucky enough to go out and play, with summers spent on the local pitch and putt course with him.

Where is your favourite course you've ever played?

My favourite course I have played is Hayling Golf Club. I love playing a links course, as I think it's the truest form of golf, with your game being truly put to the test against the elements. Hayling is a quirky links course, with some challenging risk and reward holes. Definitely the most underrated course I have played, and also one of the closest links courses to us.

What are you enjoying most about CGC?

I'm loving the relaxed environment, which is so contrary to the golfing norm. I grew up playing golf at the traditional stuffy members clubs, where you couldn't use your phone in the clubhouse, you had to wear the "correct colour socks" and your shirt had to be tucked in. None of these things have an impact upon your golfing ability and the participation of the game.

What did you do before CGC?

Since leaving college I have worked in the golf industry. My first role was in the Pro Shop at The Springs GC in Oxfordshire. I was then promoted to Pro Shop Manager, and then Assistant Manager of the club. I left there at the end of 2019, and since then have worked in a variety of different jobs within the golfing world, from golf club fitting at American Golf to managing a team developing a golf club management app.
